Mega snub to Naidu, TRS MLAs prefer Chiru
Hyderabad: The gradual drift of the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao towards the TDP has drawn sharp criticism from at least five of the seven sitting TRS legislators and even the separate Telangana movement’s patriarch Prof Jaya Shankar.
With two legislators T Harish Rao and Etala Rajender announcing that the party was not averse to having a political tie-up with the TDP, provided it takes a pro-Telangana stance, the other legislators are in a dilemma.
Though they are yet to convey their feelings to the party president, they have questioned the TRS’ stand. Most of them contend that if the TRS joins hands with the TDP, then there is a strong likelihood of the party losing out its cadre to the Prajarajyam.
One of them, on condition of anonymity, said, “How can KCR join hands with TDP when the latter is our main contender in Telangana. In Dommata constituency, Ramalinga Reddy and C Mutyam Reddy of TDP are bitter rivals, so are E Rajender and M Damodar Reddy in Kamalapur. There are several other constituencies in Telangana where TRS is having a direct fight with TDP. Moreover, People do not trust Naidu anymore and even government employees are also not in a mood to forgive Naidu for the “harsh treatment” he meted out to them during his nineyear rule. KCR came out of TDP accusing Naidu of being Telangana “drohi” (traitor) and therefore, any move to ally with Naidu will spell disaster for the party. Instead, he should look forward to joining hands with Prajarajayam as its chief Chiranjeevi’s visits to Siricilla and Polepalli proved to be crowed-pullers.”

Telugu Desam leadership is crying foul over the way Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi is going into public and declaring all his policies.
TD leader K Yerran Naidu said Chiranjeevi is hijacking the TD policies on various issues, whether it is weavers' problems or Special Economic Zones issue. "He is exactly parroting the same words mentioned in our manifesto. There is nothing new that he has said. So, people need not get carried away by Chiranjeevi's promises," he said.
But what about TD? Is it not hijacking the schemes of YSR government? Why is Naidu promising free power to all, Rs 2 a kg rice scheme and scholarships to every student? Are they not YSR's schemes? Naidu should know that there is no patent to any leader on any scheme or policy. So, why blame Chiru?

Hyderabad (PTI): Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi will start his state tour next month from the remote Srikakulam district.
The Praja Rajyam Party will begin the week-long "Oroora Praja Rajyam" (Praja Rajyam in every town) -- a massive mass contact programme -- from October 2.
"The first week's programme will usher in a green revolution wherein our party workers will plant one crore saplings across the state," Chiranjeevi announced at a press conference here today.
Unlike routine political show, the mass contact programme of the party would be a social awareness campaign, he said adding, the party's membership enrolment drive would also be taken up simultaneously.
Chiranjeevi will visit Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts in the north coastal region in the first phase of his tour.
He will also visit three Telangana districts in the second phase covering a couple of districts in Rayalaseema region by the end of October.
"We have formed an ad hoc committee to oversee the tour arrangements. We are working on the logistics to cover 50-km a day. I am very eager to go and meet the people," Chiranjeevi said.
After launching his party on August 26, Chiranjeevi visited Siricilla in Karimnagar district last week to interact with families of weavers.
He later went to Polepalli in Mahbubnagar district to express solidarity with farmers whose land had been acquired by the government for setting up a special economic zone.

"Let them visit Gujarat and see what the state government there is doing. Gujarat Government is playing the role of a facilitator and not a broker in the promotion of SEZs," the actor-politician said in reaction to Reddy's suggestion that he first visit West Bengal to study the SEZ policy in the Left-ruled state.
In Gujarat, industrialists purchased land directly from farmers for setting up SEZs while the state government only developed the required infrastructure, Chiranjeevi said.
"It's a peculiar situation in Andhra Pradesh where the Government is acting as a broker and acquiring land for rich industrialists at the cost of poor farmers," the actor-turned- politician, who visited affected farmers at Polepalli SEZ in Mahbubnagar district, alleged.
He pointed out the SEZ Act clearly specified that farmers, whose lands were acquired for setting up trade zones, should be made stake-holders in the respective projects.
"The onus is on the government to ensure that affected farmers get their due. It can't acquire land at throwaway prices from farmers and sell it at exorbitant rates to industrialists. It should share the profit thus accrued with the farmers," Chiranjeevi stated.

China showing 'flexibility' on border talks with India
The new approach was evident during NSA's recent visit to Beijing for the new round of boundary talks with his counterpart Dai Bingguo. China, sources said, was showing signs of shedding the rigid approach it has used for one informed by larger strategic considerations of a relationship between the two Asian giants.
The interaction saw the Chinese taking pains to deny that they played the spoiler at Vienna. During the NSG meeting on September 4-5, the Chinese side actually walked out of the meeting (which they later denied). It took strongly worded demarches by India in Delhi and Beijing as well as a well-timed phone call by Bush to get the Chinese to move.
What had particularly bothered the Indian side was the refusal by the Chinese leadership — Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao — to take a phone call from PM Singh. Sources said Chinese officials told visiting Indian delegation that the perception was based on distortion of facts.
Though the Indian side felt bitter about the Chinese, they have sought to de-emphasise the issue in bilateral interactions. India's representatives have told their Chinese interlocutors that they have no reason to doubt Chinese claims.
China has been taking an increasingly hardline position on the boundary dispute resolution with India, virtually going back on the political parameters and guiding principles that were agreed during Wen Jiabao's visit in 2005. It has increased incursions in Arunachal Pradesh and has dismissed the notion that settled populations would be taken into account on the boundary settlement.
However, China works in more sophisticated ways and despite the loss of face on the NSG front, its approach to the border question will always be dictated by its perception of national security interests. India is slowly beginning to realise that.
In a recent speech, finance minister P Chidambaram said something the government will not express officially but is nevertheless a strong sentiment. Delivering the Cariappa lecture, Chidambaram said, "Across the subcontinent, we face the unarticulated challenge from an equal — and perhaps stronger — rival, namely China. China's professed goal is the peaceful rising of that country. China has resolved all its boundary disputes with its neighbours, save with India. From time to time, China takes unpredictable positions that raise a number of questions about its attitude towards the rise of India. The most recent example is the negative stance adopted by China in the meeting of the NSG. However, the nagging doubt is whether China will regard India as an equal or as an upstart and what will China's attitude to India be if India's economic strength begins to equal that of China."
Importantly, China figured prominently in the discussion Singh had with Bush on Thursday, with the latter saying he was quite impressed by the progress made by China that he happened to see when he went for the Beijing Games.

Abdul Kalam, for guiding him into politics, has differences with the latter on the Indo-US nuclear deal. Chiranjeevi had even said that he was dreaming for the people as Kalam had often advised. During a media conference on Sunday, Chiranjeevi said: “Kalam might have made a macroscopic observation. He is a statesman and can’t be expected to speak against the deal like a politician. But I am a politician and I will speak for the people as there are some apprehensions over the deal,” he said. | Hyderabad/Srikakulam, Sept. 28: The Praja Rajyam president, Chiranjeevi, fumbled on question of how he will solve contentious issues troubling the state, and over on the "itinerary of his maiden political tour across the state". His standard reply over the last month on any important issue has been: "We are studying it." A press conference on Sunday showed that Chiranjeevi was still grappling with policies on key issues. Even though he visited farmers who will be displaced by the Special Economic Zone at Polepally and weavers at Sircilla, the PR chief failed to answer related queries. Angered by a volley of questions by mediapersons, a visibly upset Chiranjeevi tried to end the meeting abruptly saying: "I am not an IAS officer to know about every issue." Earlier, referring to suicide by Sircilla weavers, the PR chief questioned the apathy of the government towards them. "Please concentrate on the welfare of weavers and curb suicides rather than criticising my visits,’ Chiranjeevi said. When asked how the PR planned to alleviate sufferings of weavers, he said: "We are examining the issue and will announce our policy soon." The PR president replied on the same lines on restoration of land to poor farmers whose lands were acquired by SEZs, industries and other projects in the state. Interestingly, Chiranjeevi was not sure when his maiden state-wide tour will begin. Referring to reports in a section of media that he will start his yatra on October 2, Chiranjeevi said: "It is strange that I come to know about my tour itinerary through the media. We are still to plan it. I am not sure of the date, but I will start the yatra in Srikakulam much before Dasara." The PR chief said that his party membership drive would start on Gandhi jayanti. A top leader of the party told this newspaper at Srikakulam on Sunday that the yatra will start at Itchapuram but the date has not been confirmed. Astrologers had said Itchapuram was auspicious. The film star Chiranjeevi is locked in first case as politician with the registration of a case against him, Dalit writer Kathi Padma Rao, his son Chetan and others at the Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar police station on Friday night for their role in the controversial inter-caste wedding of the writer's son. Nalini’s mother, Mani, approached the SR Nagar police station today and lodged a complaint. According to inspector D Pratap, the complainant maintained that Nalini was kidnapped from the working women’s hostel at Ameerpet where she was staying by Katti Padma Rao and his son Chetan ‘‘in connivance with Chiranjeevi and his fans’’. ‘‘If Nalini states that she went of her own accord and the marriage was not performed under duress, the case would be dropped,’’ the police said. For her part, Nalini has already made it clear that there is no coercion involved and said her parents are ‘‘influenced by some persons.’’ |

Hyderabad, Sep 7 : Three Samajwadi Party leaders, including Amar Singh, today met the actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi here, triggering speculation about electoral alliance between them.
The SP leaders drove to Praja Rajyam Party's office at Jubilee Hills here and spent over an hour with the actor.
Though spokesman of Paraja Rajyam Party P Prabhakar described the meeting as a courtesy call, sources in the party said the SP leaders discussed about the political situation and contours of alliances at the national and state level.
SP general secretary Singh congratulated Chiranjeevi for launching the party with social justice as its main agenda and said people like him should join politics.
Jayaprada, a popular yesteryear heroine of Telugu cinema, was paired with Chiranjeevi in several films.
The Telugu mega star also enjoys good rapport with Amitabh Bachchan and his family.
Emerging from the meeting, Amar Singh, flanked by Jayaprada and Jaya Bachchan, said they had come to wish the actor good luck on his political endeavour.
Amitabh Bachchan also was to come to wish Chiranjeevi. "Since he is out of the country, we have come here to extend our greetings to him. The two families have a long-standing personal relationship," Singh said and dodged all questions about political alliance.

Sitaram, a former minister in Chandrababu Naidu government and official spokesperson, joined Praja Rajyam in the presence of Chiranjeevi.

Praja Rajyam Party is under the impression that it would be better for his party if as many leaders from the other parties as possible defect into his camp.
Already, all kind of riffraff elements are joining Praja Rajyam, leave alone leaders like Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao, Bhuma Nagi Reddy and now Tammineni Sitaram. All these leaders would make the party top heavy and they would start dictating their terms to Chiru in the long run, while genuine workers, who have been preparing the base for the party, would feel neglected and ignored. Gradually, this leads to disenchantment and disgruntlement among the cadres.
Those who have migrated from other parties and do not get tickets would resort to betrayal at the field level. Finally, Chiranjeevi's party would become yet another Telugu Desam, without discipline and moral values. So, be selective while admitting these so-called leaders. Make an in-depth study of their credentials before taking a decision on admitting them into PRP. Beware, Chiru!

Decks cleared for registration of Praja Rajyam
New Delhi: With V. Chennakrishnaiah, advocate from Kadapa withdrawing his application pending with the Election Commission for registration of his political party in the name of Praja Rajyam, decks have been cleared for registration of actor Chiranjeevi’s party as Praja Rajyam.
Commission sources told The Hindu that Mr. Chennakrishnaiah had given an application in April this year for registration of his party. Since it lacked many details, the Commission wrote to him to submit relevant documents and particulars to pursue the matter further. However, Mr. Chennakrishnaiah submitted a letter seeking to withdraw the earlier application and the request had been accepted, paving way for the actor to get his party registered as Praja Rajyam.

W hatever may be the sum and substance of megastar Chiranjeevi’s Tirupati meeting, one thing is loud and clear: That he intends to take on Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy frontally. A toddler in hardcore politics, Chiranjeevi trained his guns against the four-and-a-half year old rule of the Congress government in the State.
Ten days ago, the super hero told media that he would refrain from attacking anyone or any party and would rather focus on promoting positive politics.
When asked about who his rivals were, he said that problems that people facing were his enemies. But, within less than two weeks, he has grown as a hardboiled politician.
What must have galled him was the below the belt attack and remarks made by some of the Congress leaders especially the one made by MLC P Govardhan Reddy. Not only that the constant refrain from Dr YSR that he would be the champion in the next elections, notwithstanding the entry of new players and parties.
Chiranjeevi wasted no time in zeroing on the YSR government’s hallmark policy, selling of public land to generate money to fund various developmental programmes and declared that “a government is supposed to be the trustee of public properties and it has no right to do away with the government land.” Also came under his attack were other issues like corruption in irrigation projects and acquisition of agricultural lands for special economic zones. These two issues are directly related to the YSR government and Chiranjeevi made no bones about launching a broadside against the Congress Chief Minister.
Analysts have noticed another interesting thing, that Chiranjeevi has not uttered even a single word against the Telugu Desam or Chandrababu Naidu.
Though Naidu is not in power now, the megastar could have criticised either the hi-tech policies of previous regimes or how some people have deviated from the legacy of late NTR. But, he did not say any of these.
Though Chiranjeevi stated that his “Praja Rajyam” party would follow secular ethos, his recent phone call to BJP top leader LK Advani suggests that he is friendly towards the saffron brigade.
Anyway, there is a lot to flaunt that he is pro-Left, as the party is expected to toes the pro-poor line on many issues.
By announcing that he is not averse to dividing AP to form Telangana State, Chiranjeevi has provided enough grist to the speculation mills regarding his possible tie up with one of the two T parties – Telangana Rashtras Samithi (TRS) or Nava Telangana Praja Party (NTPP). So, by now, we know, who is the enemy No 1 of Chiranjeevi.
Chiranjeevi party still ambivalent on issues
HYDERABAD: With just a few weeks to go for Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi to launch his yatra, the party appears to have not yet fully decided on the stand it should adopt on major issues confronting the State.
Mr. Chiranjeevi has, no doubt, made reference to the Telangana issue as a sensitive one that needed scientific evaluation and termed naxalism as a socio-economic issue rather than a law and order one at the Tirupati meeting. But, party insiders feel that initial statements on burning issues were “incomplete” and would not take the message to the people with the required intensity.
Tight-lippedThe party is yet to come out with its stand on issues like the categorisation of scheduled castes, another major issue facing the State while there was no reference to schemes like free power and remunerative prices to farm sector. Praja Rajyam party managers are tight-lipped when asked about the policies that the party would come out with, to attract the people.
Spokespersons P. Mitra and P. Prabhakar reacted guardedly to a volley of questions about the party’s organisational set up, leave alone opening up on major issues. “We have everything put in place,” was all they could say to persistent queries on Tuesday.
They, of course, have one refrain: “The questions you ask are so important that they cannot be answered in a single line. We have prepared in-depth policy papers on all the core issues be it naxalism, Telangana, World Bank, agriculture - just about everything that touches the everyday life of the common man”, Dr. Mitra said.
Dr. Mitra said the ad-hoc committee at the State and district-levels would be announced in 10 days, followed by announcement of the dates and tour itinerary of Mr. Chiranjeevi that was expected to last about two and a half months. Asked about their strength and the response from people, he said, “We have analysed our strength and are reaching out to them shortly to consolidate our position.”

Chiranjeevi side-stepping key issues, say Maoists
HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (Maoist) has criticised film star and newly launched ‘Praja Rajyam’ founder Chiranjeevi for “side-stepping” burning issues of the State like Left-wing extremism and Telangana.
The Maoists would declare their policy towards the new party if clear cut policies and programmes are announced to tackle the political, social and economic problems plaguing the State and the country, A.P. State’s official spokesman Janardhan said in a press release on Monday.
While stating that it would not be a surprise if Praja Rajyam comes to power considering the people’s disenchantment with the existing political parties, the Maoists said it would be impossible for Chiranjeevi or anyone else to tackle the social inequities under the prevailing socio-economic order.
“People are sure to be drawn to him because of the promises he has made, sick as they were with the rule by both Telugu Desam and Congress parties,” he said.
‘Impossible’But, it was “impossible” to bring about a change through elections and promising the people the same is hoodwinking them yet again.
The Praja Rajyam leader was also “day dreaming” if he was thinking of establishing a just society following the ideals of Gandhi and Mother Teresa as many organisation professing such ideals were doing the work but it was providing succour to very few.
WB policiesMr. Janardhan demanded the actor make clear his opinion on the World Bank policies, whether he will take back ill-gotten wealth properties of politicians, bureaucrats and real estate mafia and if he will put a halt to the “State violence”.
“It should not be difficult to have clear cut policies if the objective of a political leader is not to gather votes during elections but focus on people’s issues. Those who want to win elections at any cost by pleasing everyone will only avoid taking a stand,” Mr. Janardhan observed sarcastically.
The Maoist representative accused the actor of having “historic ignorance” on the naxal issue for having commented that society would not transform by killing people. Until and unless, he realises naxal violence was a reaction to State violence, Chiranjeevi will never comprehend Left-wing extremism, Mr. Janardhan added.
Back Kashmir ‘azadi’The CPI (Maoists) categorically extended its unequivocal support to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for ‘azadi’ and said those opposing it can never be democrats. It called upon its party members and the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army fighters to mobilise people in support of the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom. In a press release, Maoist Central Committee spokesperson Azad advised the people of Kashmir to come out cleanly with a slogan ‘Neither India nor Pakistan, but a sovereign independent Kashmir’. He warned people to beware of conspiracies of the reactionary rulers to bring in the ghost of Pakistan to justify their brutal suppression of Kashmiri people. He said history had demonstrated repeatedly that no nation, however small or weak, can be kept enslaved forever by another strong and mighty.

CPI(M) plans to dump Naidu for Chiranjeevi
The party is working out a plan to quietly dump Chandrababu Naidu of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and have an electoral tie-up with mega star Chiranjeevi, who launched a new political party, Praja Rajyam, last week.
The CPI(M)’s assessment is the AIADMK and Praja Rajyam would sweep the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and as such are the best bet to bolster the nascent third front to provide an alternative to the Congress and the BJP.
In Tamil Nadu, where the Democratic People’s Alliance (DPA) led by the DMK and comprising the PMK, Left and the Congress won all the 39 seats in 2004, CPI(M) sources said the party expects that 2009 will see a reverse.
There were reports that CPI(M) politburo member Brinda Karat flew to Chennai last week and had talks with Jayalalithaa, but the party has denied any such meeting. Sources said though the AIADMK chief is open to an alliance with the Left, she is also waiting for feelers from the Congress.
In Andhra Pradesh, the CPI(M) wanted to take both the TDP and Chiranjeevi on board, but the Congress and the TDP are the main rivals of Praja Rajyam and the superstar does not want to take any step that might help Naidu. The comrades appear to have opted for the “winner”.
Asked about the party’s impending alliance with Chiranjeevi, a PB member said: “We have left it to the state unit. We will take a call as and when we get a report from it.”
CPI(M) sources said the Andhra Pradesh state secretariat meeting on Wednesday will discuss the political situation in the state and endorse the plan to have an electoral alliance with Praja Rajyam. But the party will not make any announcement about its plan to dump the TDP and will continue to have “relations” with it.
“We will need the support of all anti-Congress, anti-BJP parties at the Centre to install a third front government next year. We need the support of TDP as well,” a CPI(M) leader said.
Chiranjeevi has also been keen to court the Left. Referring to his recent telephonic talks with senior BJP leader LK Advani, a source close to the mega star said it was Advani who called up and a “courteous” Chiranjeevi thanked him.
Since April last, Chiranjeevi has been in touch with the CPI(M) leaders. His close confidant P Mitra, who has since become the spokesperson of Praja Rajyam, has been in regular touch with CPI(M) politburo member B Raghavulu and Sudhakar Reddy, deputy general secretary of the CPI.
Meanwhile, former PM and JDS chief HD Deve Gowda denied any differences among third front leaders.
“A force will definitely emerge against the Congress and the BJP,” he said.

As Chiranjeevi completes 20 years of his entry into the films and in all the achievements and honors, there's no sign of pride but he's still going successfully with a string of hit films. Above all, on Oct 02 1998 he started Chiranjeevi Eye & Blood Bank and Charitable Trust to give back to the people whatever he could on the humanitarian ground thus demonstrating a new dimension in his personality.
The first film Chiranjeevi acted was when he was in the Film Institute itself. The role was supposed to have been done by a friend of him, "Sudhakar". But as he was under a contract with "Bharathi Raja" then, he could not act in that film. It was recommended by him to act in that film. He got the permission from principal, "Y.G. Partha Sarathi" and then acted in that film. One of the producers sri "Kranthi Kumar" saw the film and booked him for another black and white art film. It was released on 22nd Sep 1988. Sri "K. Bala Chander " and "K. Bapu" were also there to watch the preview of the movie. Afterwards, they signed him for their next films.
He acted in so many films but never thought of the sizes of roles that he was offered that he had taken all the roles as a challenge and given his best including the guest roles and villainy roles in his starring career. In 1983, Khaidi was released. He is given the title of Indian Mega Star.
He did his intermediate studies in Ongole Junior College. He did his B.Com in YNR college of Narsapur.Later on, he wanted to become an actor. However, his father wanted him to finish studies. Therefore, he took the easy way out by joining ICW and he started learning acting simultaneously. He joined acting school in 1971.
A director called Raj Kumar has given Chiranjeevi a chance as an actor in a film called 'Punadi Rallu'. Later on, Kranthi Kumar as a producer offered him a role in the direction of K Vasu for the film 'Pranam Kharidu. Incidentally, Pranam Kharidu was the first film to be released.
Chiranjeevi made his debut in 1978 with the film Pranam Khareedu. After playing a series of minor and negative roles in films like Manavoori Pandavulu, Mosagadu, and 49 Rojulu, Chiranjeevi got a breakthrough in the form of Khaidi in 1983 under the direction of A. Kodandarami Reddy. Khaidi, was a huge hit at the box office and Chiranjeevi became one of the top heroes in Tollywood.
He established his dominance in the 1980's with blockbusters like Abhilasha (1983), Challenge (1984), Pasivadi Pranam (1987), Athaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu (1989) and others. He extended his success into the 1990s with Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990), Kodama Simham (1990), Gang Leader (1991), Rowdy Alludu (1991), and Gharana Mogudu (1992).
The mid 90's were a career low for Chiranjeevi with box office failures like Mechanic Alludu (1993), S.P.Parshuram (1994), Big Boss (1995), and Rikshavodu (1995), but he made a comeback in the late 90's with blockbusters like Master (1997), Choodalani Vundi (1998), Bavagaru Bagunnara (1998), and Sneham Kosam (1999).
In 2002, Chiranjeevi had one release, Indra, which was a huge hit and the highest grossing film at that time.
He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) and the Nandi Award for Best Actor, for his performance in Indra. Again in 2003, Chiranjeevi had only one release, Tagore, which was a hit at the box office. In 2004, Chiranjeevi's long awaited film Anji finally released but did not make a big impact at box office as it was expected to. But later that year, his next release Shankardada MBBS became a huge hit.
He got married to Ms. Surekha, daughter of Sri Allu Rama Lingaiah in 1980 when Chiranjeevi was 11 cinemas old. Allu Rama Lingaiah met Chiranjeevi first at the shooting of 'Manvoori Pandavulu'. Sri NT Rama Rao was the chief guest for the marriage.
Chiranjeevi is known for his dare devil stunts. During the shooting of Sangharshana, he was injured while doing the climax. He went to London to get operated. He was also injured when he tried fighting using Tube light in Intiguttu. In Donga cinema, he gave the producer anxious moments while fighting on a wall on 11 storied building by balancing himself. In the latest 'Bavagaru Bagunara', he did a Bungee Jumping with the carefree attitude of a teenage boy.
On October 2, 1998, he founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (CCT), which includes Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Banks. It is the state's largest recipient of Blood and Eye Donations.The Blood Bank of the CCT helped over 80,000 people and the Eye Bank has helped about 1000 people in the state of Andhra Pradesh since its opening.So far around 3.5 lakh people have pledged their eyes to CCT so far, giving 1600 people eye sight through CCT. CCT has also won the "Best Voluntary Blood Bank Award" by the AP State Government for the past 4 years.
On June 10, 2006, The President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam, inaugurated the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation (CCF) at the Jubilee Hills Check post in Hyderabad.Recently Chiranjeevi charitable trust has reached one more landmark by crossing the one lakh mark in collecting the blood and more than 96,000 people were helped with blood by this blood bank.
In January 2006, Mr Chiranjeevi was honored with the Padma Bhushan., the third highest civilian award in India. In November 2006, Chiranjeevi was awarded with a honorary doctorate by Andhra University for his services to the Telugu film industry and for his social work.
Chiranjeevi won the Southern Filmfare Award (Best Actor) for seven years.
Chiranjeevi is one of the highest paid actors in India.

Chiranjeevi's old hit movies are given to the distributors and exhibitors for free when ever they lose money on his new movie. And his old movies are still successful at the box office.

ONGOLE: It was sentiment all the way when Praja Rajyam activists organised a meeting to hoist the party flag here on Sunday. The organisers claimed that it was the first time that the party flag was hoisted in the State after it was unveiled in Tirupati by actor and party founder Chiranjeevi at a mammoth public meeting on August 26. The activists chose to hoist the flag near Gandhi statue centre in Gaddalagunta considering it an auspicious place. Local leaders launched their election campaign from the area as they believed that it would ensure their victory.
Some 500 women also attended the flag hoist ceremony. The organisers gave them blouse pieces and ‘Chiru pasupu and kumkuma’ as they felt that women should not be sent away empty-handed.
A 14-year-old physically challenged person Ashok was chosen to hoist the flag. This again was an attempt to garner the support of the differently-abled lot. Addressing the gathering, Praja Rajyam leader Kolla Nageswara Rao stressed the need for the party to shed its caste image. “It has to enlist the support of all castes and communities before elections ,” he said. Women who gathered expressed concern over free flow of liquor.
“Praja Rajyam will ban all belt shops and strive for prohibition,” Dr. Nageswara Rao said. The participants wanted the party to lay emphasis on providing employment to youth and education of women.
Mega’ expectations
Chiranjeevi’s entry into politics is quite welcome. He may be a novice to politics like NTR but he would be quite successful as he has pledged to do his best without succumbing to caste politics and to pressure tactics of any kind. People have lot of expectations about him and hope that he would be harbinger of peace, prosperity, and communal harmony. He should allot seats to most deserving candidates among women, who would not be guided by their spouses. This should be done without any fear or favour to earn a good name for his party.
